Non ho mai fatto mistero della mia passione per le due ruote. Ogni volta che vedo un nuovo modello o una nuova special mi trovo immancabilmente a studiare, scrutando senza sosta, ogni immagine disponibile, cercando di decifrare ogni singolo dettaglio che compone il mezzo.
Raramente mi è capitato di innamorarmi di moto di serie. Indubbiamente esistono modelli molto riusciti (vedi alcune Buell, le Yamaha serie MT o la nostrana Hypermotard di Ducati) ma in genere i vincoli imposti dalla produzione in serie e dal contenimento dei costi influenzano troppo il risultato finale. Le moto standard hanno sempre qualche carenza. Quanto meno a livello estetico.
Quello che manca alle moto di serie viene magistralmente aggiunto da moltissimi artigiani (a mio parere veri artisti) che con incredibile maestria creano pezzi unici, o al più piccole serie (vedi Umberto Borile e la sua Cafè Racer), di mezzi con l’anima. Tra questi artisti della lamiera quello che preferisco è Roberto Totti, grandissimo meccanico bolognese autore di alcune delle opere più audaci ed innovative che siano mai state viste! A conferma di ciò si veda il capolavoro creato per correre sul lago salato: la Pregnant Duck. Basta osservare questo mezzo per capire come il confine tra genio e follia sia estremamente sottile. Più che un meccanico Totti è uno scultore postmoderno che merita a pieno titolo un posto al Guggenheim di NYC.
In questi giorni l’instancabile Roberto ha partorito un nuovo gioiello. Questa volta a passare sotto le sue sapienti cure è stato nientemeno che una mastodontica BMW HP2. Si sogna di cavalcarla in piedi, saldi sulle sue pedivelle. I suoi tasselloni mordono le dune con rabbia e la sabbia rovente spinta dal vento taglia la faccia. E il cuore. Il cuore batte cercando di copiare il ritmo dei due cilindri e si scalda sempre di più…
